A Little About Lesa Hagen...

My name is Lesa Hagen. I was born October 4, 1967 in Titusville, Florida and raised in the Appalachian Mountains of Eastern Kentucky. I was married for nearly 18 years but have been divorced for 3 years and am the very proud mother of two children. My daughter Madison is 19 and a resident of Vail, CO and my son Clayton is 15 and resides on the family farm with his father here in Minnesota. I have been a Certified Massage Therapist for more than 5 years and decided to return to school in August 2008 to pursue a degree in Nursing at Saint Paul Community College in St Paul, MN. My desire is to work in the field of Labor and Delivery as an RN. My other areas of interest are in Surgical Nursing and Mortuary Science.

Career Plans And Goals

My immediate goal is to obtain employment in a hospital and/or private setting as a Certified Nursing Assistant. This work experience will give me insight and perspective into the daily activities and responsibilities of a nurse.

I am also looking at employment as a CNA to be my main source of income. I have worked as a Massage Therapist for 5+ years and really want to focus all my attention on my education and new career goals into nursing. Being a caregiver is something I feel strongly I was born to be. It is my passion to take care of those in need, those who are ill or hurting and those who cannot care for themselves. GOD has blessed me with a compassionate heart, a strong desire to care for others, a strong constitution to tolerate any physiological situation I may encounter and a very strong desire to succeed in this career path I have chosen.
Living as a single woman in this economy is not without challenges. I have overcome many over the last 3 years and know I will face more in the future. The education and professional work experience I have gained over the years and the educational and professional goals I am striving for will aide me when those challenges arise. I am very determined to be successful in every aspect of my life and my chosen career path and very determined to seek out opportunities and make the most of the ones that present themselves to me.

I am a very honest, hard working, caring and compassionate individual. My parents instilled a strong work ethic, strong moral values, a deep compassion and respect for those in need and an understanding that success is not something that is just given to you, it must be sought after and earned. I work very hard to achieve my goals and will continue to do so indefinitely. I learn quickly, work very well with others and follow orders I am given. I am not afraid of overtime, challenges, stressful situations or any situation that may arise unexpectedly.

What I lack in facility experience I make up for with educational training, life experience, common sense and my unwavering desire to prove myself to a prospective employer. If I am given that chance I assure you my skills and my ability to learn quickly will be above and beyond expectations. I feel I have been preparing for this journey into nursing my entire life. I have been a caregiver on a personal and professional level for more than 25 years. This is my passion, this is my life...therefore, I will succeed.

To summarize, I wish to gain employment as a CNA to financially support and sustain myself. I will continue my education by enrolling into a college yet to be decided to pursue a degree in Registered Nursing and beginning a long term employment situation with an employer in high standing within the medical community. I hope to work in an environment that will provide me with personal growth and development. With my unending pursuit of a broad extensive education, my work experience, my cooperative work experience with others, and my overwhelming desire to learn and to succeed, I am capable of handling the challenges that a career in the field of nursing will bring.
